HI HI!
Thanks so much for stopping by.
In case you didn’t already know, keeping your brushes (and makeup) clean and sanitized is of the utmost importance.
I use my brushes everyday and I sanitize them after every use. However, I deep clean them only one a week; unless otherwise needed.
Deep cleaning is what I will show you today.
All you need is tepid water and baby shampoo.
In a small bowl mix in 1 part shampoo to 3 parts tepid water.
Take your dirty brush and dip into soapy water.
LIGHTLY rub brush against the palm of your hand. You will notice dirty foam. Be sure not to press to hard or you will damage your bristles.
Keep rubbing LIGHTLY until foam is white.
Next, you’re going to rinse brush but be sure not to get any water beyond the ferrule (the ferrule is the metal part of the brush shown above). Any water in this area (indicated by the arrow in the photo above) will later cause the glue to loosen and you’ll end up with a two piece brush.
Rinse brush under tepid water until you see no traces of soap.
Squeeze out water with your fingers.
Shape your brush back to its original shape.
Lay on clean towel to dry completely. Never set upright to dry or water will seep into glue area.
Deep clean all your brushes once a week or at LEAST once a month and not only will your brushes be nice and clean but it will also help them last you longer.
Brushes can be expensive so it’s important to protect and care for your investment.
Hope this helps some of you.

Karla, thank you for a wonderful article. I never knew you could use baby shampoo to wash brushes! This is amazing! I think I’m going to starting doing this from now on!
