Hi Hi!!
I hope you are having a wonderful day and productive week.
I have been fortunate to come across some inspiring posts lately in Blogland and they have really helped encourage my mood.
In order to help keep positivity in my life I decided to create my first mood board, I am not sure if they work but felt I have nothing to lose. I will tell and show you more about that at another time.
Today I thought I would review my latest hair care products. I must admit I am new to product routines. Up until very recently I have kept everything simple. As I get older though, I feel I need to take better care of myself. These are products I’ve been using on a daily basis.
We’re getting off on the wrong foot here as I accidentally deleted the close up photo of the conditioner so you’ll have to forgive me. I use the Soy Milk Contioner though, you can see it in the group photos.
Okay, so if you watched my Massive Haul video you will know that I dyed my hair in December. Big mistake and I am trying to “recover” from it still. I really liked the ombre look and wanted to try it but I made the mistake of asking a student to do it for me and I ended up with orange hair. Not what I was going for. Anywho, she told me that this shampoo and conditioner would help the color last longer and I believe they were $19 each. I was hesitant but bought them anyway, this was BEFORE she dyed it. After the whole mess I bought drugstore dye and dyed it back to its original color and I used this duo hoping to make the dye last longer. Well it’s either the dye or the shampoo and conditioner but the color is not staying in. I’ve had to dye it twice already and am thinking a third is due here in a week or two.
The shampoo not only smells a bit funky but it’s also a bit thick and doesn’t flow out of the bottle like other shampoos I’ve used. The bottle is huge and squeezing it is hard and a pain.
The conditioner is super soft and smells wonderful but I didn’t find that it softened my hair any. In fact, brushing through my hair has never been harder. I’m sure dying has something to do with it but these two didn’t help any and I will not be buying either of them again.
Because I have had such a hard time brushing my hair without breaking it due to the way the dye changed it’s texture I bought this detangler for $7 and it has helped a lot. It smells lovely and has helped reduce breakage by half I would say. I’m still breaking hair when I brush but not nearly as much as before so for that reason and it’s lovely smell I can see myself buying this again.
This is another product my student stylist suggested and I was happy she did. It smells amazing! I have stayed away from any kind of oil for my hair because when I was in college I once tried one and it just made it look like I hadn’t showered in weeks.
On a side note, I was running late that day and I still went to school anyway without realizing how mad my hair looked. It was particular embarrassing seeing as I had class with the hot Canadian guy and the girl next to him made a point to mention how disgusting my hair was in a very loud whisper that he and others turned to look. I was mortified.
Anywho, I was told how to properly apply oil to hair and haven’t had that problem. You’re supposed to apply it from the end up and no closer than 2 inches from the root.
I am loving this oil! It was $10. As I said, it smells fabulous and it leaves a really nice healthy sheen on my hair, also leaves it super soft. It last a long time seeing as you only need a dime size amount, I have been using it for about 3 months now and still have a lot left. I will defiantly be buying this again.
My shower schedule is wacky. Sometimes I shower in the morning other times at night, so using this serum has been difficult as I don’t like adding it to dirty hair. I just put it on after I shower and I apply it mainly to the roots. This, I read, is not correct. I guess you’re supposed to concentrate the serum on the ends. I bought this to help repair all the breakage I caused after dying it, I knew it wasn’t going to help it grow overnight but I hoped it would help weighing down the fly aways at least. Either way, I’ve been using it for a month now and I have noticed nothing different after using this product at all. I believe this was about $6 so it wasn’t a huge loss but I still will not purchase this again.
I have had this bottle ($6) for a LONG time and it’s only now running low. I don’t use it every day but when I do it does a great job of taming those fly aways, which is perfect for me right now as I have MANY. The smell isn’t amazing but I feel it serves my purpose and I am sure I will purchase this again once I have finally used this one up.
I’m thinking of looking into some hair masks and a new overnight serum. I use a heat protector when I blow dry that wasn’t pictured because I don’t use it daily. I try not to blow dry and style if I don’t have to. I have yet to try the Sea Salt spray but one of these days I will air dry and try it. The less I use and do to my hair the better.

That hair dye story sounds horrible! I’m glad you’re getting your hair back to healthy!

I love all things pantene! I have long, thick hair and Pantene works the best for me! I haven’t tried any of the sexy hair products, probably because the most popular around here (the south) is big sexy hair and I def don’t need anything to add more body! Great post!

I’m excited to see how your mood board turns out! I love the recap of the products you use. It’s so daunting trying to figure out if any of these products work well or not, so I like your reviews. I haven’t tried coloring my hair yet, but I’ll be sure to take your advice when I do:) Hope you’re having a great day!
