Keeping wreaths all year around

Up until now I have only put up a Christmas wreath during the holidays, but after seeing all the pretty wreaths people have made to keep all year around, I have decided to do the same.
While searching Valentines Day wreaths in Google search i came across this one from The Idea Room and fell in love with it. I just had to make me one.
I didn’t feel like going out and purchasing the materials so I just worked with what I had at home. I made my own heart shape out of Styrofoam peanuts. I’ve had a bag of them in the garage for the longest time but felt guilty throwing them away so I’d been hoping to find a way to reuse them and this seemed like a good time. It wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. I just layed them on foamy tissue I found in the Styrofoam bag and rolled it up like a burrito and taped it together.

Next was shaping it and wrapping it in masking tape to make it more compact. and Viola! :)

I didn’t have red felt on hand but I did have some pretty silky red material. I don’t remember when or where I bought this but it was either at a yard sale or thrift store. I started with 200 circles but ended up needing more and lost count after that. :/ . I just used a can to trace the shape. The rest was easy, fold each circle in half, twice. Push a pin through the middle and stick on heart. After a few hours, I was done. :) It was very easy just time consuming. But the finished product is so worth it. ( I used some white silky ribbon I had to hang it.)

Beautiful isn’t it??  I’m thinking of keeping it up til the end of February. In the meantime I’m going to hunt down inspiration for a Spring wreath. :)

Til next time,
♥ Karla
